The Road Less Traveled

Everyone is on a journey to reach a certain destination. To reach self-actualisation, the pinnacle. Our idea of self-actualisation differs. It differs because we are all different people but it tends to have similarities.

The journey to reach such a place is one that is often discussed. Some people think there’s a certain route to success and some think there is more than one route to success. It is up to you personally on which one to take or make up your own. Your journey can’t be identical to another persons or can it?

Today is the 25th of February 2017 and it’s currently 13.20. Why am I stating this you’re wondering, well I think my dreams are beginning to guide me. I woke up earlier in the day, went on Medium, it’s like a twitter for writers. I read a couple of pieces and fell back to sleep, I didn’t even get to finish the cup of tea I made to soothe my cold. I had a dream I read a piece of medium and it included a YouTube link about the routes to success and other things. I then shared to the group chat I’m in (which is what I’d do in real life).

In the dream I learnt that your path to success is entirely up to you. You either get to pave the road as you go (make your own route) or you take the road that most people take. You join a number of other people on the bus to success. The reason why I used the term bus will become clear soon.

Just because you’re different, not classed as the norm. It doesn’t mean you will fail, it does not mean you’re better than everyone else. Also because you’re following the already laid rules doesn’t mean you’re a sheep. It doesn’t mean you’re not as ‘woke’ as others and it does not guarantee success.

People think the bus with one person will crash earlier. Come to an abrupt end, get lost etc because it’s one person on a road that no one has ever taken before. What people don’t know is that you get to make up the road as you go. There is never a dead-end in life, there is always a way out. You get to draw your way out as you drew the road in the first place. Impossible is only impossible because no one has done it. The road to success that most people take was once a road that everyone was scared to take and they mocked it. They mocked people who did things their own way then they grew to validate it.

My dream told me that the bus with 99% of the people will likely come to an abrupt end before the one with the one person. I guess we should go with 99.9% of the people. Why is this bus more likely to come to a stop faster? Well because people don’t agree on everything, people will argue on what turns to take. People will find out that they’d rather go left than right so they end up separating. They separate so many times that at the end of the day, that one bus has now lost its crew. People find out it’s better to drive their own bus (take control of their life) and take turns where they see fit. Which leaves that first bus stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Now this theory only works for people wanting to be their own boss I guess.

There are times when someone wishes to start a business. The person then reads guide books on how they should set up their journey. They wish to find out what realistic route that will face them but nothing can be predicted.

These books could benefit you if you’re someone that feels lost in life but it’s only a guideline. You’re meant to pick what works for you and add it to your own skills so you can grow. There is no point trying to replicate someone else’s journey. Something that works for me might/won’t work for you. Don’t try to be someone that you’re not. You make your rules, you make your path, you have to take charge of your destiny. Your journey won’t be identical to mine as mine won’t be identical to the next man.

If you’re someone who wants a 9-5 job, I guess you take the route that most people take. Primary school – high school – college – go into full-time job or go to university – go into full-time job – earn a living. That bus seems to be full. Most people then wake up after years of earning a living under someone and want to branch out and be their own boss. I guess that’s the crew of that bus starting their own journeys. So at the end of the day, is my theory right?

In life you have to mould yourself into the ideal version of yourself. Whatever you are deep inside, you have to manifest that. You have to make sure you achieve all that you want and turn into your final form – Ralph The Sage.

As we grow older, we are bound to make mistakes which is normal. It is a part of life lessons but we have to learn from these mistakes and make sure it isn’t too late. As we go forth on our journeys, on our own bus or with others. We have our inner mind which speaks to us, whether it be negatively or positively. You have to conquer the negatives parts and stick it out.

If you’re on your own path, your inner voice could tell you to stop. Stop, go get a job, it will all be easier. Conquer it and move forwards. If you’re on the path that everyone takes because it’s steady. It feels safe and you’re ignoring your inner voice that is telling you to branch out alone. Stop and listen, your body is built to accept comfort and not discomfort but remember it’s no pain no gain. A bit of discomfort sometimes brings long-term comfort and luxuries.

One more thing, life is a race but I never want you to feel like you’re behind. Yes someone you know might be getting married and you feel pressured. A friend of mine bought a really expensive car the other day and I had myself thinking what am I doing wrong. DO NOT DO THAT! Those who are running ahead does not mean you have failed. Because when it’s time, whatever will be will be but you have to keep working towards it.

I’ve attempted and failed my practical test a number of times. And I consider myself a better driver than some people who passed. But yet I keep failing. People just have to keep going and you would eventually achieve your objectives. It makes it worth more for you. Plus when I get my driving license it’s going to be the same license in which the next person has. I would even think mine means a lot more to me – Anonymous.

So what bus do you see yourself on, are you happy with where you’re at? Are you considering taking control of the bus? Do you see yourself wanting to reach a different destination or are you happy with where the bus is taking you?
