As it’s the new year, I thought I should let you all know me a bit better. It’s not a big deal but I thought it fits with the two other posts from today.
My first name is Kwam, I am not Ghanaian lol. Kwamdeen is actually the full name but let’s go with Kwam. If you’ve noticed, I don’t actually spell it as Kwam but as Quam and there’s a reason for that, it’s not just that having a name beginning with Q is very dope.
Kwam is and was someone that I didn’t really like, at that moment in time Kwam was me obviously but through growth and self reflection, I decided that Kwam is not of good to me and that to fully complete the change and growth I was undergoing, I needed a change of identity, a change of spelling of name to be precise. A little but massive change, Kwam and Quam have the same foundation but very different mentalities and skill-set and this has helped me soar. I even made friends start spelling my name as Quam instead of Kwam but I still have the few that just won’t budge.
So that’s it, just thought to share that as people grow and go through changes, they might feel the need to change their names as it allows them to look at themselves as a brand new better version of who they were.
The writing name I go by ‘Hak Gway’ actually came by in high school, I had a Chinese friend and he said that ‘Kwam’ in Chinese would be Hak Gway and since then it stuck to me. Hopefully he wasn’t lying.
